WHAT THE FAC

Most of today’s generation will only ever hear stories of the infamous Manchester Hacienda night club. That is now a lovely set of apartments. Since none of us have ever been (bar one lad I know) here is an animated walkthrough of the famous Manchester club.

If you happen to have £600 pounds spare you can pick up a 10-inch record sandwiched between a piece of the bar and a piece of the dance floor. “Rescued from the club by Hookey himself” – make’s you think he dived in as it was being torn down just to give you the once in a lifetime chance of being the proud owner of such an artifact. It does look quite impressive though have a peep at it here. Rumour in Birmingham’s clubland has it that a man who owns a large record store located in Birmingham purchased a slice of the dance floor as well. But we don’t want this blog to turn into a rumour mill now do we.

More pictures of the (ex)nightspot here.

Iz affected by spray paint, its not until part 2 & 3 that we dig deep and start shaking up the Graffiti world with chilling health issues and facts.

In the words of Take That – “Never forget where your coming from” Cant wait for this to drop.

THE END OF TV AS WE KNOW IT?

Just when you think it can’t get any bigger… Google announces plans to launch Google TV later this month with the words “this is just the beginning!” So, are the internet and television really becoming this interchangeable? It may only be available in America to start with but it can’t be long before it reaches the shores of the UK. Content planned for the service includes shows from cult-favourite HBO, NBC and Netflix as well as Sony and CNN, and Google are expecting more broadcasters to join the operation soon. With the demise of traditional media; the end of ‘must-see TV’ at appointed times due to the popularity of iPlayer et al; and the rise of portable devices such as NoteBooks and Smart Phones; is this really the future of TV?

OFFSET 2010

Just got back from Offset festival in Ireland, Too much good stuff to say about this three day design conference, I’ve just penciled this in for next year again, a really inspirational event. I’m still astonished at the sheer volume of people that were in attendance. Eatock must have spoke to close to 800 – 1000 people. Compared to the week before in Birmingham where he spoke to 15. It fills me with hope, especially for the design community in Ireland. There were too many highlights to speak of, for me Poke London, Eatock, Carson, Lois, Mark Farrow & Lance Wyman were the highlights. Creative review were in the mix and wrote a review of what went down. check it out herehere, and buy next years ticket nowhere.

OH DEAR DAVEY C

Really don’t know what to make of this picture, taken at this years offset festival. I had a few mixed feelings on it. I guess you can just put it down to whatever makes you happy. Or maybe she valued her copy of end of print so much she decided not to get her copy soiled in any way shape or form.

More on DC can be found here though I’m unsure if this is his official website. But it probably is…
